New Year, New Me

Whew! I am always amazed how fast the time goes from September to the end of the year. And now that I have a toddler, time seems to fly even faster. It has been a great year - I love my job and my ability to work and still spend my time with my son. I am very lucky in that regard - except I do find myself at my computer long after I should be in bed!

Next year will be a year of change for me and this.life photography. It seems to be all around me - lots of people trying to figure out who they really are and what they really want. I need a new direction. Not something drastic, mind you - I have never been good with great lumps of change. But I need something just a little bit different. I will be updating my website to reflect this evolution (when I get the chance - as processing photos always take priority over my web site). I hope that my ever-loyal clients will follow me down the new path and that I might pick up some new people who are interested in my work. I promise I will be the same old me, just with a new outlook and maybe a new camera angle or two...;). I will also be updating my packages on Jan 1st, so I can only guarantee 2010 pricing if you have booked with me before then. No huge changes in pricing, don't worry - I am still one of the most affordable digital photographers in Calgary. And I am still only working part time so let me know well in advance if you are looking for a session. Winter is usually full of new babies and I am looking forward to meeting some more of your lovelies in 2011.

Have a fantastic holiday season everyone and we'll see you next year. Here's a shot of the little man in the fall when we had our family photos done with Nikki at epicdanger photography - definitely check her out (http://www.epicdanger.com/).

Cheers,
Leah

Full. Up.

What is good news for me is bad news for you, if you are looking for a photo session with me for this year. I am completely booked up until the end of the year. You gotta be fast, you gotta be quick - those of you who planned waaaaay ahead have managed to get yourself a session. Good on ya. For the rest of you, I am taking names for a cancellation list but there is not a lot of wiggle room for dates, so you would have to be ready to be flexible. I hate turning people down but I am mastering the balance of work and life - a very difficult task but a very important one to me.

I will start booking for 2011 later this fall, so if you are looking for a session for next year, please drop me a line via my contact section on my web page or at leahmcintyre@hotmail.com.

Cheers,

Leah

Overwhelmed...in a good way

Summer is finally here after Fake Spring (I knew it!) and things are crazy busy. Joshua is a whirlwind of running, climbing, talking and throwing and I am just trying to keep up. Really, how does anyone have two kids at the same time?

The good news is that life is great and full. The bad news is that I am booked up for sessions until October - and I only have one or two sessions left for October and maybe one for November. Yikes! Thank you to all of my stalkerish repeat clients who have sought me out waaaay in advance to ensure themselves a session this year. I appreciate your loyalty and all new clients looking for sessions are probably a little miffed at you. If you are the hopeful kind, please send me a message as I might have a cancellation or maybe I will have created the 30 hour day and can take some more clients...

Have a fantastic summer! Throw lots of rocks.

Walks like Spring, Talks like Spring...

I detest Fake Spring. This had better be the real deal. I get used to wearing a light jacket, leaving my gloves at home, not having to scrape anything and then Winter goes, "Oh, haha, you thought I was DONE? Silly."

This is especially frustrating for photographers such as myself who use natural light only, as we LOVE to shoot outside and look forward to the return of tolerable weather, followed by the green of Spring. I have lived in Alberta most of my life, so I am completely aware that True Spring never occurs before June. So, just in case you were also getting the itch to request an outdoor family session now because it seems like the weather will hold out, don't do it! All you will be doing is ensuring that we get 3 feet of snow right before your session. If you would like a family session this Summer, please let me know now though, as I have a waiting list already and will be going down it to book people in very soon.

I have been busy with little babies this winter - my own and some newbie baby clients. I am completely booked up until the end of May for newborns but there might be room for one more depending on a few factors so give me a shout just in case. My little guy isn't so babyish anymore - he is a whirling tornado chatterbox who keeps me on my toes. But those baby blues get me every time...
